Evlin #1

Based on a real life experience..I’m still able to listen her words.

Evlin is alone now, complete loneliness. Her husband filled the wardrobe with clothes, gifts and everything with wanted and unwanted things. He tries to make her happy, he felts all those will brings smile to his wife’s face.Everything in that house seems unfamiliar to her. Even the way her husband asks permission to their parents, if she wants to go to her house. They used to sleep at late night and Evlin needs to wake up morning. If she slept at 4 am also she needs to wake up before 7 am morning.Evlin is not good at cooking actually she don’t know ABCD in cooking. But she tried her maximum to pick up everything, watched some youtube videos on cooking and started some cooking experiments. She accompanied her husband for cooking but the family considered the cooking only for girls. They added ” A girl is zero without a cooking knowledge, whatever she achieved in her life is nothing compared to cooking”.

Real life story continues….

  1. It’s high time, the house chores, including cooking should be considered as life skill that should be learnt by all individuals regardless of gender.
Being independent, to do things on own makes one resilient and self-assured.

This post reminds me of someone telling not to give toys that includes ‘kitchen set’ to a toddler-boy. If that innocent kid is interested to learn things around him, why is it wrong?
If a boy is not allowed to touch kitchen items, then he is not allowed to eat food, is what I wanted to tell that person at that moment.

Its not about gender, it is a life skill. Not sure when this will be normalized.

    Very well written πŸ™‚

    2. She is ready to do cooking, but the thing is like, if she asked the doubts also…,its got clarified in wrong ways. Actually its not a big deal, the wife needs to look after the family. But if she tried also, it was not allowed by the other members…What she will do?

  2. It’s not only an Evelin’s Situation. There are many undetermined Evelins around us. Some of them may closed their mouth it’s because of social status, image …. Live independently. Females are not born for kitchen works…They have visions, misions…

  3. I feel very sad every time people consider the girl’s worth with cooking or house keeping skills alone. Sad that they don’t consider her sleep or the way she is making effort to learn new skill. We need education for people on many levels, how to be compassionate to other people and especially girls. Waiting for next part.

    1. Evlin is not her real name actually since I don’t wish to reveal her name, but felt to share her story to everyone with her concern.
Thanks a lot Bettie for the response πŸ™‚

  5. Forgive them my Lord they know not what they do. It is so sad. But such is life.

Eviln is lucky to have friends like you Athira. Shall pray for her.

On a lighter note and giving the other view: My wife too was zero in cooking πŸ˜† and after marriage she tasted freedom for the first time to sleep late. I used to make my own breakfast and wake her up to close the door when I was leaving for work 😊

      2. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth- 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 “

  6. So relateable..Most of the women suffer silently thinking this is their destiny and it foupd have been worse.but what we dont realise is none deserves to be treated like this.Another sad thing I realised through Elvins life is how a woman can be a womans worst enemy and why do they forget their times when they were recently married..why do people want control instead of aiming for peace love and harmony
